Recent Solutions
Mobile Broadband eCommerce

Developed a consumer-facing eCommerce solution selling laptops and handsets with mobile broadband and voice contracts. Built front-end using PHP5, MySQL, Smarty, XHTML, CSS, Javascript, jQuery and AJAX. Front-end interfaced with 3 Mobile's Sprint service using SOAP and XML, and SagePay. Back-office performed order processing functions supporting a customer service team. Back-office was built using PHP, MySQL, XHTML, CSS and jQuery. This also interfaced to 3 Mobile's Sprint service and SagePay. Bulk order imports were supported using the PHPExcel library and PHP XML and XSLT. Entire system also supported over 2000 reseller/affiliate accounts with an account management and reporting portal. Supported in the region of 600 orders per day.
Currently developing a Web Service solution to allow resellers to incorporate features of this shop into their own eCommerce solutions. Clients include Dell, eBuyer and Comet. Also developing web gadgets to provide desktop, web and mobile based realtime stock availability checks.
Hosted on in-house multi-server LAMP platforms. Significant experience of Apache configuration, Linux command line and Subversion version control.
“Jolicloud”
A bespoke eCommerce solution to support the launch of a netbook running the Jolicloud OS, integrating with Jolicloud's own site but hosted entirely on our servers.
Based on Concrete5, which is an MVC based CMS. Required several under the bonnet modifications to the core code, by overriding various MVC components. Created re-usable Concrete5 'blocks'.

Ecommerce solution leading to an application form and with a “Formtools” PHP open source form processing back-end. This was modified to output applications as XML which can be imported into the Mobile Broadband solution above. Integrated with an external mobile network billing system.

Also assisted in-house ASP developer with a 'nectar card' style service which entailed some ASP Classic coding, VB and SSIS scripting as well as overall mentoring with regards to solution architecture.
Defined and implemented version control processes using Subversion. Company previously had never operated a formal version control process.
Rolled out a team project collaboration tool based on an open source solution, and introduced some basic Agile project management techniques.
Key member of the Solution Architecture Definition Team for the replacement mission critical Sales System, required to facilitate company growth over the next 5 years.
