Not your ordinary eCommerce solution, this site offers Laptop and Mobile Handsets with airtime contracts and therefore required specific controls and user aids for product selection and a rather lengthy contract application form.
The features of jQuery and jQuery UI were used extensively to provide an interactive user experience which guided the user through the product selection and application process.
AJAX provided realtime lookup of postcodes and address verification. Full basket, checkout and card handling was included.
Additionally, a full back-office used AJAX and a custom built SOAP client to perform realtime credit checking with external Web Services. The back office supported a team of order processing, warehousing and customer service personnel handling upto 600 order per day. A bespoke EDI Out module allowed orders to be piped to the central Oracle ERP.
The system was extended to support several spin-off projects.
Written in PHP5, XHTML, Javascript and jQuery, this system was hosted on a LAMP platform.
